Julian Atkinson

Area of Expertise
Julian is involved in corporate, commercial, capital raising, insolvency and reconstruction, mining and resources work. He has experience servicing a wide range of publicly listed companies and their officeholders particularly in the areas of capital raisings, insolvency and reconstruction and directors' duties.

Legal Career
Julian qualified in February 1995, initially practicing in insolvency, restructuring and commercial litigation. After practicing in Sydney, he returned to Perth and practiced in insolvency, reconstruction and commercial litigation at Tottle Christenson (1999-2001) and Minter Ellison (2001-2005). During this time Julian acted for companies, directors, insolvency practitioners and secured and unsecured creditors in all aspects of insolvency and reconstruction. In February 2006 Julian began practicing corporate and commercial law at Hardy Bowen. He joined Pullinger Readhead Lucas in July 2007.

Legal Career
Tim
was admitted to practice in 1999. Tim
completed his articles and restricted practice year at M.J. Hayter & Co, then spent the next two years in Japan. Tim became a Principal of M.J. Hayter & Co shortly after returning from Japan. Several years later Tim was employed as a commercial solicitor by CCI Legal Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of WA. Prior to joining Allion Legal Tim was employed as a senior associate at a medium sized firm located in the Perth CBD.

Simon Panegyres

Area of Expertise
Simon specialises in corporate and resources work. His areas of expertise include mergers, acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, mining projects, royalty agreements, fund raisings and corporate governance.
Relevant Experience
- Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd and Mitsubishi Corporation in relation to the establishment of an incorporated mining joint venture and separate unincorporated rail and port infrastructure joint ventures in the MidWest region of Western Australia;
- Aquila Resources in relation to the company's $286 million placement to, and associated strategic alliance with, Baosteel Group Corporation;
- Foodland Associated Limited on its $3.8 billion demerger and agreed acquisition by Metcash and Woolworths;
- Woodside Petroleum in relation to the acquisition of Shell's North West Shelf oil interests; and
- HBOS plc on its acquisiton of BankWest.
He has also acted on a wide range matters involving nickel, gold, copper and geothermal assets in Australia and for the receivers and managers of various resources companies.

Legal Career
Simon commenced practice with a specialist litigation firm in 1998, and conducted actions in Federal, Supreme and District courts, as well as providing legal advice on a wide range of commercial matters. He joined Mallesons Stephen Jaques in 1999 and spent over 10 years practising corporate and resources law in the Perth and Sydney offices of Mallesons Stephen Jaques. During this period he also spent time on secondmen to Woodside Energy as corporate legal counsel. He joined Allion Legal in December 2009. Simon has also tutored in law at Murdoch University.
